The 2nd Annual Smiles Change Lives Turkey Trot

The second annual Smiles Change Lives Turkey Trot was a huge success with over 1000 participants from 19 states and Washington D.C. The day featured a 5K run, a 1.5 mile walk and a kid’s fun run.

"The community has embraced this tradition and we are glad to be a part of it," said race director Christine Egan. "Enough money was raised to help over 70 low-income Long Island kids receive the orthodontic treatment they desperately need," added Dr. Egan.

Long Island’s is one of nearly 20 Smiles Change Lives programs across the country. Programs help economically disadvantaged kids get the orthodontic treatment they desperately need.

Visit www.SmilesTurkeyTrot.org to see race results and photos from race day. Watch for information about the 3rd Annual Smiles Change Lives Turkey Trot, coming November 25, 2010!

The 2009 race was an even greater success than last year's race! Thank you to everyone who took part;  the participants, the invaluable volunteers and our generous sponsors and friends.

The 1st Annual Smiles Change Lives Turkey Trot was a huge success!

With the money raised on Thanksgiving, the Long Island chapter of Smiles Change Lives became an active chapter of Smiles Change Lives.

We exceeded all expectations with nearly 600 participants. The overwhelming response was so gratifying, but also taught us some valuable lessons

that will help us make future races a better experience for everyone. We have a lot of great ideas.

Congratulations to everyone who ran or walked. Thank you so much for making the decision, on Thanksgiving morning, to be a part of something great. By coming together with others and helping those less fortunate, you have shown what Thanksgiving is all about. We appreciated everyone’s patience and kindness. We hope everyone had a terrific experience.

Once again we want to thank our volunteers. Everyone stepped up and performed beyond our expectations. Brendan and Mike of Sayville Running Company were amazing both in providing help with race preparation and with race day improvising. We would also like to thank everyone who helped out anonymously, by picking up trash or directing fellow runners and answering questions.

With Gratitude,

Frank & Christine Egan
