The Non-Surgical Treatment for Gum Disease (a non-invasive therapy)

-
It consists essentially of a mechanical phase and a pharmaceutical and or neutraceutical phase depending on how the patient responds to treatment. This is an anti-infective program. At times we may incorporate or blend in traditional and alternative medicine (Biological Compatible Periodontal Treatment).
During the course of twenty years we have treated thousands of patients with gratifying results. Many of the patients coming from out of state and far away places (Biological Compatible Periodontal Treatment).
The microscope for our plaque samples serves as our stethoscope. The patient plays an important role in this treatment – as co-therapist.

Non-Surgical Treatment of Gum Disease

-
Our mission is to make it possible for our patients to keep their teeth and gums healthy for a lifetime. The doctors at Wedgwood have been early pioneers in bringing the benefits of the Non-Surgical Treatment (a non-invasive therapy) of gum diseases to the public attention. Although we are general practitioners, the major part of our practice is devoted to the treatment of Gum Disease.
We have over the years treated thousands of happy and appreciative patients who may otherwise have lost their teeth. This has given us a lot of satisfaction. Often, we found that the more severe the periodontal condition, the more dramatic was the result of treatment.
The therapy is pain free. It is basically a biological non-invasive form of therapy blending the best of traditional and alternative medicine (Biological Compatible Periodontal Treatment).

Dental Health and Chronic Diseases

-
Dental health is so very important to us and the entire staff at Wedgwood.
We know that many chronic diseases could be traced to poor oral health. Periodontal disease and dental caries are the two most prevalent diseases in our society.

Advantages for Non-Surgical Approach for the treatment of Gum Disease

-
- The main reason for the non-surgical approach is we are treating the cause – bacterial infection. In surgery we are treating only the symptoms. Periodontal disease is an infectious disease, which is also contagious.
- In surgery you are removing essential supporting gum tissue.
- Roots become sensitive when exposed.
- Roots tend to decay more readily because they are not covered with enamel.
- Teeth may shift due to space formed by missing gum.
- Very unesthetic looking teeth now look longer when gum tissue is removed.
- Surgical procedures and injections are painful, periodontal dressings are very uncomfortable.

Our Philosophy

-
We have a firm belief in the concept of preventive dentistry. Both the dentist and the patient must work together as a team to create a healthy oral and physical environment to sustain any dental procedure. Most of all, we are concerned with the physical integrity of the entire body of which the mouth is but a part.
Throughout treatment patients are treated solely by the doctors from beginning to completion. Patients travel to us from many states.
